Artist Led Studio Sessions
Want a practical workshop? Our experienced artist educators will design a session specifically tailored to the needs of your group inspired by our current exhibitions.
Browse our artist team and get ideas for your workshop or leave it to us to tailor make. Visit the website www.balticmill.com/resources and click on artist led studio sessions.
Workshops can be half-day or full day and can take place at BALTIC or at your school or college.

Independent Visits
Groups are also welcome to visit BALTIC independently. Our freindly and informative BALTIC Crew are available on every floor. Approach them with any questions you have, from finding out more about the exhibitions to where the toilets are.
Downloadable Teaching Resources
BALTIC offers a range of flexible contemporary art resources as an introduction to BALTIC and the Exhibitions Programme. These resources are free and can be used in BALTIC as well as within schools and colleges for work following on from a visit.

Explorer Packs for schools
Free
These special packs are designed to support independent visits to BALTIC filled with tools for engaging pupils with the artworks on display. Packs are available for a class of up to 30 children. Suggested adult to pupil ratio 1:5. Booking is essential.
Download Hazard Identification Sheet. For school groups visiting BALTIC. Teachers can use this to help create a risk assessment.
Groups visiting BALTIC independently can take advantage of the contemporary art teaching resources as well as the Library & Archive.

Interested in learning about BALTIC as a workplace? This session is led by our experienced Learning Team and includes an introductory talk supported by an interactive film and a behind the scenes tour. There is also the option to include practical activities and sessions can be tailored specifically to the requirements of your group.

Using BALTIC's fantastic Library & Archive, your students will have the opportunity to work with experienced library staff to help inspire ideas, find relevant artists, and delve deeper into their chosen theme.
Why not bring along GCSE and A Level groups in preparation for art exams. We recommend a maximum of 15 students per session.
Work based placements
BALTIC works with schools, colleges and universities to offer well-structured, productive and relevant work based placements.
BALTIC offers three 1 week work based placement opportunities annually to regionally based school pupils. All school placements are with the Education Team.
BALTIC supports 2 postgraduate placements per year as part of the University of Newcastles MA in Art Museum and Gallery Studies.
Occasionally BALTIC supports additional placements throughout the organisation. For further information email learning@balticmill.com.
